Learning with Middle Schoolers! A Report on Igari Shinobu’s “Meiku” Class

Shinobu Igari promotes the “Parent-Child Makeup Education Project” while engaging with makeup and children. As part of this project, she provides makeup education to elementary and junior high school students.

On a certain day in August, ampule joined her for a makeup education class held for junior high school students.

Even adults listening were filled with “Huh?” and “Oh, I see!” moments! Here's a brief report on the class, covering just a small part of what happened.

Learn the universally recognized word “kawaii” that builds confidence!

First up was Ms. Igari's talk.

She shared important perspectives on beauty and how to approach makeup, weaving in her own experiences and specific anecdotes.

Makeup is something you'll use your whole life. That's precisely why Ms. Igari emphasized the importance of truly engaging with it and cultivating a solid relationship.

“Face your own insecurities, boost your self-esteem and motivation, and then apply your makeup!”

At these words, all the participants nodded with smiles.

Let’s get started with the makeup lesson!

Before applying makeup, let's discuss the ten essential rules to follow before starting.

Securing your bangs, wiping your hands clean, rolling up your sleeves… While each step is simple, Ms. Igari carefully explained the reason behind each rule. This allowed all participants to fully understand the importance before beginning their makeup application.

To deepen your understanding while having fun, we'll also give you makeup quizzes! Answer the quizzes and learn about the importance of sunscreen and makeup remover.

And as we actually applied makeup, we learned detailed techniques.

Of course, Ms. Igari’s insights were invaluable, but above all, the class was fascinating. Smiles abounded throughout, and the lesson unfolded in a joyful atmosphere. Yet even while smiling and enjoying themselves, the participants’ earnest expressions as they listened to Ms. Igari were truly impressive.

It's not just about teaching makeup techniques—it's a class that nurtures the ability to care for oneself while protecting adolescent skin. That's what “Makeup Education” is all about.

We plan to hold these classes regularly going forward, so please check our website for details.

Thank you to everyone who participated!
